Announcing the determined efforts, government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said the government has already sent its application to host the specialized Expo as “Expo 2028 – Phuket, Thailand” to the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE ) in Paris.
A tender committee for the organization “Expo 2028 – Phuket, Thailand” agreed that the government should present the Ministry of Public Health’s assistance program for developing countries to the BIE to support the proposal. organization of the exhibition, as required by the BIE.
The committee also approved the organization of the “Future of Life Forum” in France from November 1 to 4 to present in depth the theme of “Expo 2028 – Phuket, Thailand”.
Besides, the director of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) will propose the model agreement to the BIE to introduce the amenities and privileges that will be offered to the exhibitors. The TCEB announced that the BIE will announce which country will be granted the right to host the specialized exhibition in June next year.
Phuket had a competitive advantage for its infrastructure, geography and tourist attractions, Mr Anucha said.
“Expo 2028 – Phuket, Thailand” would bring economic benefits, cause the circulation of 49.23 billion baht, increase the value of gross domestic product by 39.36 billion baht, generate 9.51 billion baht in revenue for the government and would create 113,439 jobs, Mr. dit Anucha said.
Its return on investment would be about nine times, and the government expected the exhibition to attract about 4.9 million visitors from 106 countries. Among them, 54% would be Thai, said the spokesman. (TNA)
