So Sofitel Hua Hin

A huge white rabbit-like sculpture stands in the middle of a green courtyard with its hands holding a clock, implying that time has stood still and we are about to be lost in the realm of imagination upon entering.

The Sofitel Hua Hin therefore presents itself as an imaginative escape and my fellow travelers and I felt as if we had entered the beloved fairy tale Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland during our stay there.

The property is nestled on peaceful Cha-am Beach and surrounded by lush hilly landscapes, adjacent to natural attractions such as Khao Nang Phanthurat Forest Park and Nayang Bat Cave. There is a wide range of entertaining activities and leisure facilities for people of all ages to enjoy unique holiday experiences in a stunning landscape.

Design and installation

Award-winning architect Duangrit Bunnag was tasked with creating a space that combines modernity, aesthetics and nature under one roof. Focusing on seclusion and comfort, this resort is blanketed in towering trees and local plants and the original structure has been redesigned to become an interwoven maze of open courtyards and private pathways, with a weathered wood palette naturally.

Donatien Carratier, a forward-thinking interior designer known for creating resonant spaces in which vivid fantasies blend with reality, has converted every corner into a canvas painting to inspire exotic vacation moods under the “Evolution Of Life”.

Inspired by the natural history museum at the Grande Galerie de l’Evolution in Paris, the leafy courtyards and other leisure spots are embellished with a vibrant palette of artwork.

Sculptures of rabbits, for example, jump on a wall of magic mirrors and sprint throughout the complex, while a group of wildlife-inspired sculptures gather in a reflecting pond at the front of the lobby.

Renovated two years ago, the resort offers 109 spacious rooms, suites and pool villas ranging from 60 m² to 260 m² and decorated in two different styles: So Arty and So Nature. All rooms feature a MyBed, state-of-the-art sound system and complimentary private in-room bar.

During the day, four pools with different themes are lively places to relax and soak up the sensations of the beach. The 60m² Signature Pool sits in the middle of the resort and is a water play area where families and friends can put their athletic abilities to the test on an adventure in the Wibit inflatable water pool.

On the 3,600 m² course of So Wonderland Adventure Golf, golfers can pretend to search for magic herbs to help Viola the witch. It’s like an enchanted forest, with 18 holes where stone creatures can be brought back to life.

The multifunctional tennis and basketball court as well as the pickleball court are great places to burn calories. A 2.2 km cycle path is also offered with bike rentals available.

The resort also has a kids’ club, with a wide range of leisure activities including a ball pit, Nintendo Switch games, kids’ yoga, sand painting, and the Rabbit Lawn life-size chess board. .

my room

I spent the night in a 60m² So Comfy room with a contemporary design. A collection of life-size portraits in a gilded frame and brightly colored nature-inspired furniture brightened the cement walls and floor. USB hubs and power outlets are available both in the work area and in the headboard. For entertainment, there is a smart TV with satellite channels and a reliable free Wi-Fi signal.

The bathroom is large enough to accommodate a closet and a minibar area, which has a coffee maker and tea maker as well as a small fridge stocked with soft drinks and snacks. There is a corner of two sinks with all amenities, a bathtub, separate toilet and a rain shower with simple controls.

To eat

The White Oven restaurant serves an international buffet breakfast from 07:00 to 10:30. A full salad bar, American breakfast, and local specialties like fried eggs with garnish and noodles, along with a variety of freshly baked pastries and fresh juices were some of the highlights of my meal.

The Beach Society beach club and restaurant was a great site to watch the sunset over the Gulf of Thailand and enjoy fine dining. The grilled Hokkaido scallop served with sour and spicy pomelo salad was also a great way to wake me up, while my other favorites included grilled prawns with parsley, grilled seafood platter and grilled fish in a salt crust.

Leisure experience

The resort recently launched the So Explorer program which allows vacationers to see natural wonders while learning about local culture. Early in the morning, our personal guide took us on a three-hour hike to the top of the Khao Nang Phanthurat Limestone Forest Park, said to be the inspiration for Thai folk tales. Sang Thong.

In the evening, we headed to Nayang Bat Cave, just a 10 minute drive from a resort. It was the best place to watch the sunset as thousands of bats left their habitat in search of food.

We were also greeted with a tempting selection of pre-dinner drinks and small bites.

The Sofitel Hua Hin is therefore far from the resort and convenience stores. It is located on a quiet beach but offers a variety of fun recreational activities for people of all ages to enjoy in their free time, making it ideal for those looking to get away from the crowds.
