Power cuts will affect Rawai, Srisoonthorn

PHUKET: The Chalong branch of the Phuket Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) has announced that electricity supply will be temporarily cut off at the southern end of Wiset Rd, Rawai, tomorrow (May 17) as work is underway on upgrading the high voltage cables.

Areas affected by the power outage, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., will be on both sides of Wiest Rd, from Soi Aree 1 to Soi Laem Ka Noi.

In its press release, PEA Chalong apologized for the inconvenience caused during the execution of the work.

“If anyone needs to use electricity for medical equipment or an emergency in power outage areas, let the electricity authority know. The PEA will try to expedite the work and restore power supply as soon as possible,” the PEA office added.

For more information on the power outage, people were advised to call the PEA Chalong office at 076-521099 (24 hours) or the PEA hotline 1129.

SRISOONHORN

Meanwhile, residents of Srisoonthorn today began suffering the first of three days of ‘continuous strike’ blackouts as workers upgraded transformers across the area.

The PEA’s Thalang branch announced yesterday that the outages will take about 40 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the processor.

However, while some of the outages will only last 30 minutes, the outages will affect many parts of Srisoonthorn until the end of the day on Wednesday (May 18). (See reviews displayed above in the image gallery.)

In its press release, Thalang PEA apologized for the inconvenience caused.

People who need a power supply to ensure the continued operation of medical equipment have been asked to inform the PEA Thalang office at 076-386882.

The notice also urged people not to carry out any work on a power supply system while the power supply had been temporarily cut off in their area, as it was unclear when the power supply would be restored.
