PHUKET: Phuket has become the first choice among searches for accommodation in Thailand on the Airbnb platform since the country reopened to visitors from 63 countries and territories without quarantine launched on Monday, November 1.

As of Monday, searches for homes in Thailand on the Airbnb platform have doubled, said Amanpreet Bajaj, Airbnb general manager for India, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan, reported the official NBT news agency.

Phuket is the number one destination, followed by Bangkok, Samui, Pattaya and Chiang Mai, Bajaj confirmed.

Provinces near Bangkok also saw more searches. Surprisingly, Phetchaburi, a lesser-known province, has seen the number of searches increase by 80%.

Mr Bajaj added that most tourists from Europe, North America and colder countries are preparing to escape the cold season.

“This makes Thailand one of their main destinations. Thailand will see more tourists from the United States, Russia, Germany, Britain, Korea, Australia, Canada, Sweden and Switzerland, ”he said.

“As Thailand officially reopened and lifted the quarantine upon arrival, we have seen the growing demand to visit Thailand reflected in Airbnb bookings,” Bajaj added.

“There are also a large number of tourists who have booked for a long stay, which is not beyond expectations as Thailand is also one of the top destinations for work,” he said. note.
