Amit Gusain appointed Indian Chief at SAii Laguna Phuket


Chef Amit Gusain hails from the picturesque town of Rishikesh and has worked in top restaurants and hotels across India and Thailand. He joins a multinational team of talented chefs from Europe, Malaysia and Thailand.

SAii Laguna Phuket, the free-spirited beach resort on Phuket’s beautiful sunset coast, has announced the appointment of Amit Gusain, a young and talented new Indian chef, as it continues to expand its culinary offering and to bring exciting new flavors to customers.

Chef Amit may only be in his thirties, but he has gained vast experience in the kitchens of top hotels and restaurants across Asia. Born in Rishikesh, the beautiful city on the banks of the Ganges in the foothills of the Himalayas, Chef Amit was inspired to start cooking by his beloved mother, who taught him the traditions of authentic northern cooking. India, and mentored by his uncle, a highly acclaimed executive chef at some of the finest luxury hotels in India.

Chef Amit started working in New Delhi, notably at the famous Punjabi Pind restaurant. He then decided to spread his wings and moved to Thailand, first as an Indian chef at Gajanana, a popular restaurant in Krabi province. Since then, his career has been on an upward trajectory, as Chef Amit has shown his skills and creativity in many top hotels in Southern Thailand, under brands such as Dusit Thani, Anantara, Westin, JW Marriott, Renaissance, Novotel, Swissotel and Best Western. Most recently, he was chef at Avani+ Khao Lak Resort.

Confident, hardworking and highly motivated, Chef Amit is now ready to delight SAii Laguna Phuket diners with his culinary skills. As the resort’s dedicated Indian chef, he will create dishes that showcase the diverse regional cuisines of his home country, including contemporary plates and classic recipes such as his lamb rogan josh, which is sure to boost the senses and awaken the taste buds.
