73% of millennials plan to travel abroad when borders open: report

NEW DELHI : With the covid-19 vaccination campaign full steam ahead across the world, nearly 73% of Millennial Indians would like to travel to international destinations with fewer cases of covid, a travel sentiment tracker said.

About 67% would like to travel to destinations with easy covid policies and protocols, according to Business Of Travel Trade (BOTT), a media platform that tracks the habits of Indian travelers. He said pent-up travel demand will contribute to this growth.

A majority, 66% of millennial travelers, are likely to visit Thailand as soon as it opens. “We have started to receive requests for international travel for the upcoming holiday season, but travelers are also cautious about Covid restrictions, better connectivity and the selection of international destinations. It is not at all surprising that Thailand is a favored destination for Indians who wish to travel for the purpose of tourism, shopping, golf, meeting or wellness and I have no doubts that it will be the one of the first to capture outgoing traffic from India. “said Riaz Munshi, president of the Indian Association of Outgoing Tour Operators (OTOAI).

The tracker mapped data from around 7,800 millennials across the country over a five-week period during the months of August and September 2021. It shows that 61% of millennials would seek better connectivity when of the selection of international travel destinations while 27% would prefer -transport destinations. 38% of millennial travelers would base their decisions on attractive destination campaigns highlighting their unique features and offerings, according to the tracker.

According to the survey, 83% of millennials would prefer beach destinations for their next vacation, followed by wellness and spa destinations and hotel and resort stays at 65% and 53% respectively. Interestingly, 48% of millennials have gone to golfing destinations and 43% of them have gone to shopping destinations.
