PHUKET: Chalong police have arrested 19 people, including Thais and foreigners, at a party at a luxury villa in Rawai for violating current COVID prevention rules by staging an illegal rally.

The owner of the property was also arrested for obstructing arrest, according to a report from Muang District officials.
The luxury villa, located in the Crystal Villa residential estate in Rawai, near Lake Nai Harn, was raided at 1 a.m. on Saturday, officers reported.
The raid was led by officers from Muang Phuket district, joined by Charung Thaochan, Kamnan (sub-district chief) from Tambon Rawai, as well as Ritthirak Salika, Phu Yai Baan (village chief) from Moo 7, Rawai.
The deputy chief of investigations of the Chalong police, Captain Anantachai Piyapanan, and other officers of the Chalong police were present to make the arrests, according to the report.
The 19 suspects arrested included Thais and foreigners, the report notes.
The 19 were all taken to Chalong Police Station and charged with violating Phuket Provincial Ordinance 5409/2564, which came into effect to regulate measures to close the premises and ban activities that may spread COVID. -19.

No names of those arrested have been released.
It was not indicated whether any of the suspects would face additional charges for violating the emergency decree or violating the communicable disease law, as provided for by the provincial decree.
